Challenges

Despite being pioneers in their industry, Traco Power still relied on a manual pricing processes within their company. Recognizing the need for digital transformation, Traco Power’s Digital Transformation Leader reached out to Reenbit to find a reliable partner who could help them navigate the initial stages of this transition process. We were excited to take on this challenge, as we are passionate about integrating new technologies and solving our client’s problems.
The current pricing was done in numerous Excel spreadsheets. It was error-prone, and very time-consuming and complex to maintain. Moreover, since the data was distributed over different files, the foundation for future automations was not given.

Solution

To gain a complete understanding and analyze Traco Power’s requirements, we began with the discovery phase. The Traco Power team was highly cooperative and assisted us in comprehending the business rationale of the project. As they were already using an Azure portal, we established Azure DevOps. During the initial month of our partnership, our primary focus was on creating a backlog and user stories.
Despite not having prior experience with Azure DevOps, we persuaded the Traco Power team to opt for this tool instead of the more conventional Jira due to its superior capabilities in both software development and SDLC process management.
Following a month-long planning phase, we commenced the development of a web application to automate the pricing process.

Our implemented features include the following:

  • One global database for all pricing related information
  • The ability to search within the products
  • A workflow to manage price calculations (incl. calculation of taxes, discounts, currencies, etc)
  • Ability to make price adjustments any time and propagate them to downstream systems/users
  • Automated price list generation,

It is crucial to emphasize that the pricing unit is intricately integrated with financiale formulas, and all accounting is meticulously covered with integration tests.

By implementing this automation solution, Traco Power can now streamline their pricing process and avoid the time-consuming manual procedures that were previously required.
